'Today we are cancelling the apocalypse!' Humans, robots and aliens at war in epic Pacific Rim trailer

With all of the apocalyptic talk in the air at the moment, the trailer for Guillermo del Toro's (Pan's Labyrinth, Hellboy) sci-fi epic Pacific Rim comes at the perfect time.

Get your first look at the 2013 blockbuster above — it's got a Prometheus-meets-Transformers kind of feel, don't you think?

Paying homage to classic Japanese monster movies, del Toro makes his aliens come not from space, but the sea.

It's up to humans operating gigantic robots called "Jaegers" to battle the "Kaiju" sea monsters, who naturally want to reduce the human race to smithereens. Whatever happened to world peace?

Pacific Rim stars Prometheus' Idris Elba, Sons of Anarchy's Charlie Hunnam, Babel's Rinko Kikuchi and Horrible Bosses' Charlie Day.

Oh, and more than a healthy dollop of CGI robots and aliens that'll surely make for a 3D popcorn-fest.

Pacific Rim is out July 11, 2013. Vote 'want to see' or 'not interested' on MovieBuzz.
