It's finally here! This is your first look at the visionary Peter Jackson's hugely anticipated The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in the must-see, just-released first trailer for the film. It's so good to see Gollum, Gandalf and the marvellous world of Middle-earth again!
J.R. R. Tolkein's The Lord of The Rings legacy just got that much larger. This is part one of the epic fantasy adventure prequels, and it's easily one of 2012's most anticipated movies. You can see why.
Sir Ian McKellen returns as Gandalf the Grey, with Andy Serkis back as Gollum, Cate Blanchett as Galadriel, Orlando Bloom as Legolas, and Elijah Wood as Frodo Baggins, cousin and adopted son of the said hobbit of the film's title, Bilbo Baggins, played by BAFTA-winning English actor Martin Freeman.
Among the new cast members are Australia's own Dame Edna aka Barry Humphries, Lost's Evangeline Lilly, and TV host and comedian Stephen Fry. Quite the diverse bunch!
In this film, Baggins embarks upon a journey to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the unfortunately named dragon Smaug. Encountering giant spiders, shapeshifters, sorcerers and all kinds of creepy creatures, Baggins is luckily joined by Gandalf and 13 dwarf warriors.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, in 2D and 3D, is out December 26, 2012, with The Hobbit: There and Back Again to follow December 26, 2013.
