Raunchy Reese Witherspoon film slammed with R rating

Reese Witherspoon in an R-rated movie? Doesn't sound right, does it?

Well, in the US, Reese's latest rom-com spy flick This Means War (trailer above) has been smacked with an R rating for "some sexual content".

But it's not all boobies and full-frontal nudity for Reese and hunky co-stars Tom Hardy and Chris Pine, who play two spies in love with the same woman (lucky girl).

An R rating in the US is somewhat equivalent to an MA15+ in Australia, with the recommendation that under-17s, rather than under-15s, be with a parent or guardian to see such films.

20th Century Fox unsuccessfully tried to appeal the rating to try bump it down to PG13, no doubt to open up the film's youth potential for its Valentine's Day release.

The film is still to be classified (TBA) in Australia. It's out February 14 here.
