Orlando Bloom worried he wouldn't fit into old Hobbit elf costume after 10 years

It seems even Hollywood elves get worried about packing on the weight over the years!

When Orlando Bloom was asked how it felt to portray Legolas in The Hobbit trilogy after a decade, knowing he's 60 years younger than he was in Lord of the Rings, he was justifiably anxious. Watch his response in the video above.

"The first thing I did when I got to New Zealand was try on my old Legolas costume, because I wanted to see if it would still fit," the 36-year-old joked at yesterday's live Hobbit global fan event.

But rest assured ladies, TheFIX was there when Orlando guaranteed the audience that the original elf costume from 10 years ago still fits! Although he seemed a lot more excited about donning those luscious long blonde locks…

"I was thrilled to have the opportunity to don the blonde wig again," he quipped.

The 36-year-old also voiced his concern that fans might be outraged by his character being included in the film at all, adding how thankful he was that director Peter Jackson decided to include him in the script.

The event, transmitted to capital cities across the world, also allowed die-hard Hobbit fans to ask questions of their favourite stars and for Peter to share with them some exclusive new scenes.

Highlights included Lee Pace's hilarious demonstration of his "elf walk" that he said Orlando taught him, Peter Jackson showing lucky fans 20 minutes of never-before-seen footage from The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, followed by New Zealand actor Jed Brophy leading the lucky Wellington audience in a sing-along of Hobbit theme tune 'Misty Mountains'.

But don't expect to see any of the exclusive new Smaug footage popping up online, Peter made sure it was for the eyes of the attending fans only.

If you missed our live stream yesterday, you can still watch the highlights of the fan Q&A in the video below. Pay close attention for a deleted scene from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey followed by a sneak peek at new footage of The Desolation of Smaug.
