Submission Guidelines (Movie Reviews)

Do you want to share your opinion of a movie with the rest of the world? Have a look over our Dos and Don'ts before you get typing, so you can send us a great review.

1. Do

  • Write an honest, first-hand review from your own movie experience. Don't just repeat things you've heard other people say! Some things for you to think about include:
    • Was the movie scary, funny, boring, entertaining?
    • What was the acting like?
    • Who would this movie appeal to?
    • What other movies would you compare this one to?
    • What would you change?
    • Be clear. Express your opinion so that everyone will understand what you mean
  • Be concise. Don't ramble or repeat yourself
  • Check your grammar and spelling – it makes life easier for our editor!
  • Give other people's reviews the once-over before penning your own, so you can get a sense of what to say, how to say it, or what not to repeat. Remember, we might edit your review before it goes live on the site
  • Be as creative as you like
  • Keep reviews to three or four paragraphs maximum – this gives other people enough space to say what they think, too!
  • Respond to other people's reviews if you want to agree/disagree with something they've said
  • Give a movie a rating out of five stars.

2. Don't

  • Include irrelevant information or details not relating directly to the movie
  • Use your review to attack or abuse other reviewers
  • Submit a review less than one sentence long, or more than three or four paragraphs long
  • Include any content that is pornographic, sexually explicit, racist and so on
  • Plagiarise other professional reviews from other sites or publications
  • Simply write a synopsis of the movie – we want your opinion!
  • Write more than one review per movie
  • Submit a star rating without writing a review.
